I found picking the titles difficult, this is because I researched into a few films (as seen on the blog) and they showed a different outcome to the 'correct way' of how to do titles. Every titles I looked at were different. I wanted to keep researching to make sure I done the right titles and ended up changing them.

These are the names that I will be using for my titles in my opening scene. I researched films that were similar to mine and used a range of crew from those films as this would seem realistic as certain roles I used had done two or more films that I researched into. Some of the reasons why I picked some certain crew members:

I picked Scott Z. Burns as my writer as he wrote Side Effects and Contagion. These films are similar especially Side Effects. He would be the right writer for my film, he is a well know writer too.

I picked the two actors Rooney Mara and Nicholas Hoult, i picked Rooney Mara as she's been in films like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Side Effects, these two films show that she is able to play a dark and a edgy character and that is very similar who I want my main character to be like. I picked Nicholas Hoult as he has played different roles such as Warm Bodies and X-Men which shows he will be able to play a mysterious character and is able to take on a difficult role.

I chose Mike Medavoy as my producer as he has produced films such as Black Swan and Shutter Island, he is a big director so people might be interested in watching his film.

Changes To Film After Storyboard

My first story board draft of the still images were different to what I set out to do.

I changed a lot of shots and changed the order around, I also added different shots as I thought it would work well. With some of the shots I planned on my story when filming I decided to change the angle of them as I saw a better opportunity of how the shot could be taken, for example the shot of Amelia walking in to the kitchen I originally had the shot being a mid shot but when I got to filming I thought this could be a good shot for a low angle as I could get a wider view of the room, with the shot I was lucky as I started filming lower down the sun was very bright and shone through the window creating a bright light and the actor to turn into silluete. I wanted a dark scene as my genre is a thriller but I was lucky to get this shot - at first I didn't think it would look great I added it in I thought the shot was very effective as you are unable to see the character which shows a mysterious story line.

I changed my titles after my storyboard as after doing research I found that the titles appear in a different order. I thought this was the best thing to do as I wanted to make sure they were correct.

Diary of Filming

Diary of filming

I started filming for my AS film opening, the weather out side was raining so that delayed me on the starting of the filming. My friend who was going to be the main star came and met me, while it was raining we took the opportunity to film the shots inside. After the rain stopped we then went outside, although it was a wet day it was also very sunny which allowed bright shots to be used.

A week later I took the opportunity to take out the camera and tripod out of my school again and re shot some scenes as either they wasn't great standard or they could be improved or completely new shots. I also asked the main boy star to film that day, as it was another bright day so the lighting would be the same. After I finished filming i was happy with the shots I had, i also made sure I had a few extra shots incase anything went wrong. After finishing filming we spent lesson times editing the film using final cut.

Casting

I only used two people in my film as my opening scene was focused on the main character.

I asked my friend via text to take part in my film is it was an easy way to communicate. She lives very near to me so I could get her to redo scenes if they wasn't very good. She was good for the part as she could play a mysterious woman.

Initial Ideas

I had a different ideas when first thinking about my film.

My first idea was:

A guy who became obsessed with computers and lived his life through computers but then became a bit crazy as he began to stalk people he found on the computer. I thought this would be a good idea as I could of done titles which were on the computer like using Word and Google, but I soon realised this wouldn't be as interesting and quite hard to do.

My second idea was:

A young girl who meets a mysterious teenager boy who just joined her school, after a while of meeting him she realises he isn't who she thought he was. This idea was similar to my final idea but I thought it might be too stereotypical and I wanted to create a original idea. I also thought the opening scene would not be that interesting or intriguing so I thought of an idea where I could do a better opening scene.
