Feedback From Teacher

Feedback for Evaluation 1

What Went Well:

Good to see you addressing develop and challenging conventions in the research of digipack.

Even Better If:

Make sure you give full answers i.e. explain why you think e.g. the album being displayed in the advert isn't normal.

Evaluation 1

Digipack

Once I completed my digipack I added all of the images onto an A3 page on photoshop and moved them around to form the shape. For my digipack I made sure I included certain aspects that were vital for a digipack, I included the album name and artist name very clearly so that it was easy for the audience to see who it is, I made sure I included the album songs so people could see if the songs they like are on the album. I included close up pictures of the artist so that people may find it easier to recognise by the artist. I also made sure I included the record label and barcode to be able to be scanned.

Advert

For the advert I ensured that I used certain language to relate the audience. I used 'includes..' and named the songs which helps the audience identify with the artist through previous songs. I also used 'amazing voice, new artist' which interests the audience as some people are keen to find the next up and coming star. Using 'exclusive' makes the audience feel as though they are missing out if they don't buy the item which will help with sales. I used stars as it the audience wouldn't have to read the reviews but can quickly view it. I made sure I included the artists name very largely and the album name as it can help grab the audiences attention. I used the same picture as the album cover as it makes it easier to recognise the album.

Similar Adverts

Lana Del Reys album is simple. The advert has got the image of the album on the cover as the main attraction, this makes it easier for the audience to recognise the album when purchasing it.
'Lana Del Rey' is written across the top of the advert, which is big and written in capitals so they clearly know who the artist is.
The album shows the release date in small writing but includes certain songs that will be included - this attracts the audience who just like those songs which are mostly going to be songs that are in the charts and popular and helps gain the audience to become fans of the artist too.
They use two different fonts for this album cover, one to show the album name and artist which grabs your attention and a smaller writing was for the extra information.
There was also the place you can buy the album which was 'Amazon', the website for more information on.

The Jessie J album is similar to my album, it has a similar layout as I used the block of colour at the bottom of my magazine to help make the writing stand out. The album cover is used as the main image on the page.
Jessie J's name is wrote big in a gold writing which stands out and you clearly recognise it as the artist as her image branding is bought in with the font.
The album name is written underneathe the artists name which is common for an magazine.
The popular songs are added to help gain extra audiences who liked the songs as well as the artist.
There are extra features added for example the record label and the website to find more information about the album and to buy it.
The house style matches the album cover by using dark colours.

Conventions of Advert

A popular and common form of promoting and advertising digipaks, is through the media and in this case, magazine advertisements. Usually, the advert is placed in a magazine that follows a similar target audience to the artist or band releasing the album. The adverts are usually normally basic, following a colour scheme, or similar colours to that used on the album artwork.

Music album adverts have certain conventions to meet the right target audience.

-The artists name must be big to catch the attention of the audiences.

-The album name must be on the cover to know which album is being avertised, the album name doesn't need to be big.

-The cover normally has some reviews on it whether it's star rating or from a magazine.

-There is normally the artists record label and the company of where you can find the music.

-The date that the album is released is normally big as it catches the attention and stays in people's heads of when its out.
